Hi all-

I am going to import my car from Ireland (BMW 320 Diesel), what is the motor tax like in Switzerland? In Ireland I am paying 850 CHF PA. This is based on engine size. How does it compare to what i will pay in Zurich?

You'd only get hit for 850 CHF if you had a 4.7 litre engine.

are you sure that you want to import a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side? You will hardly be able to sell it here, it's better to sell it in Ireland and get a new (or used) one here.

Hi - the thought had crossed my mind - I just bought it a year ago, and would lose quite a bit selling it now. Im hoping this car will last me a good few years. Is it uncommon to see right hand drive cars in switzerland?

we have 2 RHD cars here, we do get some funny looks

well yes as everything is on the left hand side...(parking meters, drive throughs....) But im certain you can mange just fine

I think it's the cars not the steering wheel location

maybe, lotus are pretty rare out here
