If only there was some kind of poll functionality on these forums.
My commute is by tram, 20 minutes door to door. Takes me 45 minutes to walk, so reckon it must be 4km or so.
I used to be on the road at least 3 hours per day. 100km each way on the M25 around London... |

45 km each way
I do it by car. Can take anything from 40 minutes to over an hour each way dependent on traffic.

15 minutes cycle (25 door to door on the tram). Prior to working here in Basel I was in London and the commute time and options (replace tram with tube) were virtually identical. However, both options here are more relaxed.

I drive about 13km to work of which nearly 10km is always free of snow, hail, rain, fog and even blinding sun.

1 hour 15 mins in the morning, and if I'm lucky only 1 hour on the way back. Comes down to the way the public transport fits together.

| | Re: Commute
Was 17 minutes door-to-door by public transport plus walk time.
Currently 45 minutes door to door by public transport and walk. An hour if I have to detour to drop the toddler to childcare...via the bakery where he picks up his raisin bread...
New job, 20 minutes walk uphill in the morning, downhill in the afternoon...or 5 minutes walk plus 2 minutes bus if I manage to get the perfect connection...I think it would take longer if I had a car and had to park it!
And if my husband didn't have to commute...I would have happily moved in next door to my new workplace...but it wasn't fair on the two older kids because it would have added another 15 minutes commuting time to their day...each direction...maybe in the future perhaps...

My other commute is the time taken to walk from my bedroom, down the stairs to my office in the cellar.

| | Re: Commute
11km.
8-9 months per year by bike, around 30 minutes.
Rest of the year: 20 minutes by bus + 10min walk.
Door to door.
In the evening, it's more uphill, so it takes from 45 minutes upto an hour (when I take the long trail)
;-)
Nothing does more for your fitness than a commute by bike.
