Procedures for selling a car in Basel

I am trying to sell my car and was wondering if someone knew what the process was after I find a buyer? What is the name of the place I need to go to turn in the plates and what else do I need to do? Any help is much appreciated!!

Re: Procedures for selling a car in Basel

Here are the addresses for BL and BS. You just take them in and complete a form, so easy. Also your insurance company can do it for you. I just bought a car and my insurance company did it all, the paperwork and picked up and attached the plates.

Motorfahrzeugkontrolle BS
Clarastrasse 38
Postfach
4005 Basel

Motorfahrzeugkontrolle BL
Ergolzstrasse 1
4414 Füllinsdorf

Hope this helps

Re: Procedures for selling a car in Basel

Just to revitalise this thread and for my own piece of mind; if we sell our car privately, the procedure is as follows:
1) exchange of goods including vehicle ausweis, removal of number plates, cancel insurance
2) return plates to SVA, fill in form
3) organise insurance for our new vehicle (from dealer)
4) dealer collects new vehicle ausweis and plates from SVA
5) we collect the new vehicle

Is this correct? My wife wanted to be sure, to be sure

Should I also provide a receipt for whoever purchases our car? Any recommendatiosn regarding wording ie that that is is sold as-is, without gaurantee etc?
Cheers
