Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

Ok, we need to escort the kids to school, by train. Most times, he will. But sometimes, I have to. If we buy the point to point tickets, can both of us use the ticket?

Does the point to point ticket has name on it?

Re: Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

If it is not personalised to an existing Halbtax card, yes it can be used by anyone in possession of it.

P2P tickets do not have a name normally ( exception to certain long distance routes eg Bernina Express from Zurich ). A P2P ticket based on a HalbTax requires you or your spouse to present a Halbtax card when asked.

Re: Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

As your location is set to Zurich, I will assume you are within the 12 Kreis/Zone 10 area. A zone 10 ticket can be bought for a month for 77 CHF when personalised/tied to a ZVV or SBB form of ID. For 86 CHF you can get a ticket which can be shared as much as you like.

source

If the school/your home is outside zone 10, the prices increase as you travel into further zones. The ratio of fixed/transferrable stays approximately the same.

Re: Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

You need to be clearer about what you mean by "point to point ticket". What's your particular use case? A point to point ticket is a very specific case (either a single, return or season ticket permitted for travel only between two stations).

As others have said, though - If you mean a zonal travel pass in general (and if you're in Zürich and your journey is entirely within the ZVV area that's what's available - no point to point seasons are sold there) or a GA, both of those come in both personal (tied to a single person) and transferable versions. The latter is quite a bit more expensive. In the case of a transferable GA it's a lot more expensive.

The ticket you posted can be used by anyone, there is nothing on the ticket to say who bought it...... main thing is the user can show a halb-tax ticket.

i checked the sbb web site, looks like they have point to point ticket, (from Zurich HB, to Baden), you can buy monthly, like 160 fr, or yearly, 1600+ per year... here I mean, point to point ticket is like spefic route tickets, right?

Re: Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

The point to point ticket is associated with a photo of the person, on a separate card. This ID card has a unique ID number which is linked to the point to point card, which is a seperate ticket. So no, only the person issued with the point to point card can use it.

The reason they issue two cards is that the ID card can be used for up to 5 years, so when you buy a new point to point, you use the same ID card, with your ID number allocated to the new point to point card.

Hope this explains the situation!

Since your location says Zurich I assume you would need a ZVV network pass. These are either personal or transferable, the latter being a little more expensive.

If you read the ZVV link in my post, it covers bus, trams, boats, S-Bahn trains etc.

Re: Can my husband and I share the point to point ticket?

The point-to-point travelpass.
If you regularly make the same journey by train, then a point-to-point travelpass is just the ticket for you.

Point-to-point travelpasses are available at attractive prices for children and young adults aged 6 to 25, as well as for adults of 26 and over. You can buy them for 1st or 2nd class, with a period of validity of seven days, one month or twelve months. If your journey lies within one of the regional authority transport networks, you will need a travelpass for this network rather than a point-to-point travelpass.
You can order your point-to-point travelpass online or by phoning Rail Service on 0900 300 300 (CHF 1.19/min. from the Swiss fixed-line network), or buy it at any ticket office or touch-screen ticket machine.

http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reisemarkt/...bonnemente.htm

what does "If your journey lies within one of the regional authority transport networks, you will need a travelpass for this network rather than a point-to-point travelpass." mean?

This is Switzerland, but he is on 8, that's a bit young don't you think? Have you done the journey yourself? Also, that will be quite tiring (imho) for a little guy like that day in and day out.

thanks!!!! on this site, it said:

Example: You commute to work every day from Baden to Zurich (2nd class). With the Z-Pass for 5 zones (570, 572, 154, 110), you can travel wherever you like within these zones – even outside your daily commute to and from work. You pay just 187 francs for the monthly Z-Pass travelcard.

it definitely give me more information to digest...

It is definitely not an ideal plan but perhaps you had no choice as the international schools in Zürich are full. Sometimes you need to battle with your employer to improve your circumstances. Parents commute, not 8 year olds. The simple answer is to move, even if it is just for a year.

8 is too young to take the train alone that distance, regardless of the weather. Taking a local bus to school at that age is not the same thing and that is what an 8 year old might do here if he couldn't walk to a local school.
