I groaned the numerous modifications of your post. I groaned the tone you used. I was thinking just before I got busted that since no one was actually working there, I might go a bit faster too..... I truely think they see me coming! | | | | | and I was speeding as I was already late and the car in front of me was driving about 70. I finally managed to take it over, which I do not normally do on this road.....

| | Re: Red flash speeding camera? | Quote: | | | | | On a depressing note (for the OP and IBD) a colleague was fined for 92 km via that particular camera.
On top of the 92 in an 80 fine, he received an additional penalty of CHF 150 as it was inside a construction zone. I never heard of that before but it does sort of make sense. | | | | | that is one thing I am worried about - the extra penalty because it is a construction zone.... Anyway - what is done is done.

Under Swiss road law there's a huge difference in consequences between minor infractions that are dealt with an administrative fine and everything beyond that. Mixing those two things up is creating lots of confusion and not helping anyone, sorry.

| | Re: Red flash speeding camera? | Quote: | | | | | Great! This camera got me a couple of Sundays ago. I was kind of clinging to the hope that maybe the camera was just being used as a deterent, not actually taking photo's (don't they normally send the fine quicker than 2 weeks later?) . I was the last car in a long line and everyone was going faster than me, so it was a good day for the St Gallen coffers. | | | | | about "I was the last car in a long line" you did not see all the flashes as it did the other cars?

There is an enormous ignorance or misunderstanding here which many of you don't know about, and sadly do not WISH to know about. Only one person has recently asked here for a copy of the Swiss Highway code, and nobody seemed to know where to get one, which suggests that many people are driving around dangerously, because they don't know the basic rules of driving in Switzerland. | | | | | I do not consider myself as an ignorant or dangerous driver, even though I have not educated myself of "the basic rules of driving in Switzerland". I normally use common sense when driving, follow the speed limits and keep my eyes open. This I have managed in various countries without problems. Should be enough here as well.

Would someone please be kind enough to translate this into English in its entirety, or at least point me towards a copy in French. I live and work in Romande and speak no German what-so-ever, and some of my collegues don't even speak French because I work for a multinational company.
Also, while I'm at it, would you all please be kind enough to stop b*tching at each other? It was the reason I stopped posting on this site a while ago, it's very boring and deconstructive. This isn't a competition, some of us don't know the rules because we are immigrants. We can't know the rules unless we're given accurate information by the people who already know that information. On the other hand, some people may be speaking English as their 2nd, or even 3rd or 4th Language, they may not have grasped how to construct sentences so that they don't sound confrontational.
So please, give each other a break, if someone makes a mistake, and you want to correct them, point them to where you get the corrective information, all this he said/she said is just so... BORING!!! {Gets off his soapbox and ducks to avoid the rotten tomatoes} | The following 2 users would like to thank JonP for this useful post: | |

LoL.. Actually I did, but it was getting REALLY boring, and I couldn't make hide nor hair of those links, they just seem to be full of the usual Swiss beaurocracy, the interesting information seems to be hidden somewhere.

Pity, mostly I have been lucky & seen that the guy in front of me was flashed so I could brake in time (in the highly unlikely circumstance that I was exceeding any speed limt)
