Re: Blocking personal information from eAutoIndex

Here is another list of the Swiss auto license plate search facilities . . .
http://www.linker.ch/eigenlink/autonummern_index.htm

and it includes a link to all the Swiss road traffic authorities for the purpose of blocking access to your personal details. However, you are left on your own to navigate their web sites.

Re: Blocking personal information from eAutoIndex

I do not understand what is wrong with the Swiss people. Really they are good in many things, but when it comes to cars, they are the dumbest person in the world.

I don't want to offend anybody, but seriously how can you just think to do something like that? This is violation of privacy!

Anybody that see my car can go on internet and see where I live?????

I take it you've not found out yet that in Canton Zürich anyone can request a copy of your tax return unless you ask to have that information blocked?

/sigh. Stones and glass houses, my friend.

In the end, what does it really matter?

If they are bored, yes.
But anybody can follow your car and see where you live, too.
And the web-interface usually restricts the number of requests per day to a low single-digit limit (5 for ZH).

AFAIK, most women block it these days. For obvious reasons.

As said earlier, it can be helpful. But it would probably be better to only have a phone-number listed and not the full address.

This is very helpful, thanks guys. Better than being complained to for overtaking some typical dawdler doing 55 in an 80... Cheers

Re: Blocking personal information from eAutoIndex

When we arrived in our little village it turned out unbeknownst to us to be sorta big news, we own a couple of nice cars but nothing outstanding, respectable nonetheless. Shortly thereafter my husband was greeted by a neighbor in his place of business who wanted to know why he had left our apartment so early in the morning? She then went on to recite his license plate number to him as she had it memorized!!! Whats up with that? Seems to be the national sports now even venturing out from behind closed curtains...

After learning about that I stubbled across this post and learned that one can fill out the forms to make sure ones personal information is kept private! Still in a small village it doesn't really make much difference as everyone watches what you do but I did it mainly to say "piss off and mind your own business!" I'm very grateful to the OP and others here for the privacy tips.

Re: Blocking personal information from eAutoIndex

Actually it can work in your favour: if you take somebody else's parking spot in the city centre it is much cheaper and less hassle for you if they can find your details and call you and ask you to move than to have your car towed.

Seems like a good idea. Next time somebody is in my parking space I will call them and them their car is on fire. Can't wait to see the reaction!

In such situations it is best not to be holding the lighter when they arrive though

The link for Kanton Schwyz has changed to https://www.sz.ch/public/upload/asse...ndexsperre.pdf

It took me quite a while to find it, perhaps I'll save someone else's time...
