I have been driving my Vespa around with my L licence since June. It officially expired 2 days ago (16.10.2010). I thought getting the 8 hour weekend course would be sufficient to extend it for another year, but my instructor told me right now that I hadn't reached the goals of the Grundkurs yet (through private lessons, and passing a small test with him that I can drive around small streets with lots of junctions, using my mirrors correctly, and with him sitting behind). And because I hadn't done this test yet (the weather is too cold now), I am not able to get my extension.

The only proof of me doing the 8 hour course is a section with Fahrzeugbeherschung on the back, showing I paid 400CHF and attended on 4 Sept 2010 (the second date of the course was not marked).

I have already done 5 private classes (ie almost 10 hours), but am still not ready for the exam because during the 8 hour course we did not learn swerving and the full emergency brake. And I do need practice with a lot of other things as well.

What were your experiences with extending the L? What should I do next?
