Matt, Dates are whenever we decide, must put some up to start the process. Need to see when I'm working.
Ark3000, we ride a mixed bunch of bikes. We have, at least 1 Buell, 2 Fireblades, Pan European, KTM 650, KTM 900 (is it Colin), Triumph 675, Moto Guzzi V7, Hornet 900, plus a few others. All depends on who is joining for the ride on the day.

The Buel(Ulysses???),Hornet,Moto Guzzi and the KTM Dukes are streetbikes
Triumph 675 and the Fireblades are supersports and superbikes.
When I was in the Swiss country,I noticed 125cc Suzukis in Zurich and Engelberg,3 BMWs in Bern and also a S1000RR somewhere in Interlaken.
S1000RR is one serious bike I admit,the one I saw smoked a red Ferrari by a mile!!!!I also saw few Yamaha cruisers and the bike in your Avatar pic in Zurich.
The biggest number of 2-wheelers were scooters,Vespas,they were everywhere !!!!
So Chris,how do you arrange the rides??? where do you go??? what speed limits you maintain ??? Are there any Biking groups ???(I saw on some tunnel walls and sound barriers written,Ghost Rider and FLZuki,I wonder,these guys must be riding Hayabusas and Bkings !!!)
Touring must be a bit uncomfortable on Supersports but its easy on streetbikes....
I wish to know the Biking scenario in Confederate Helvetica,please tell me about it.... |

Colin, I'm available early evening 07/08/09/10/11/12 (early shift), all day 13/14 early evening 15, 20/21/22/23/24/25/26/27/28/29/30. Seem to be working a lot of early mornings this months.
Ark3000, when we organise a ride out, we usually plan to go somewhere interesting, and there are a lot of pass roads in CH, which are fun for the sports bikes, but also not too bad for some of the others as well. We'll usually toss ideas around for a few days before hand on internet/email amongst oursleves. Some one normally has a good idea, and we then expand on that. Most rides are usually on a weekend, pref on a sat, as sunday is usually too crowded, but we also throw in a few evening or weekday rides, as some of us work shifts.
We never worry about the different types of bikes on a particular ride, as we are not trying to set the countryside alight, but want to enjoy it :-) Often, riding thru a pass road, as there are not normally too many side roads off, those that wish to be a little faster through the bends ride on ahead, and we all regroup at major junctions. It's worked well so far.
You will see a lot of small scooters and 125s as they get used a lot for communting to/from work.

We are about to head out to Nyon in a few weeks, have the accommodation headaches as well as other relocation issues, but ride outs take away the pain! No one ride in the winter here?

Can't do drinks this friday, as late shift, so not out of office until 2200, nuts.
Agree, once the salt goes down, I only take the bikes out for short rides, leaving enough time to wash it once home.

How many motorcycles does a Biker usually maintain???-I mean to ask that,do you people,who are close to biking,have a big multi-cylinder Bike for touring and sports and also a small single cylinder Bike for commuting purpose????
My question may seem silly or may seem bugging to you,but I am a Died-in -wool Biker myself  ,so I am very eager to know the pros and cons of Biking in Switzerland. |
