My son finally coming to visit - ideas for outings please

So my 5 year old is finally being allowed to come and visit. His mum must have found some happy pills....

He's coming in February half term. I will take him skiing and sledging for a few days, I am after ideas for what else to do.

He's very very active, in the UK we go to play centres but I have never seen any here......

Ideas very much appreciated.

Cheers

Re: My son finally coming to visit

Thats very good to hear you will be seeing him. Dont have anything special to recommend except to wish you a good time.

The thread should probably be moved to the Leisure sub-forum

Well, you could organize another poker night..or take him here: http://www.alpamare.ch/ It's a waterpark with cool slides and kids love it.

Re: My son finally coming to visit

Take him to the Lucerne Transport House - kids can easily spend 5 hours there.

Re: My son finally coming to visit

There is an indoor playcentre in Zurich called Kindercity

http://www.kindercity.ch/index.php?id=18&L=3

and my kids always loved it when we went to the Technorama in Winthertur....it's a hands on experience where kids can try out lots of stuff

http://www.technorama.ch/index.php?id=2&L=1

This just as two 'bad weather' ideas ,in case you can go out sledging and so

Have fun,with your boy!!!!

Cheers

Yes, it's mostly indoors with some slides that go outdoors.

Re: My son finally coming to visit

So, Jack arrives on Tuesday, snow doesn't look that great so will take him sledding and maybe skiing once or twice. Apart from that will look at the Alpamere water park (if the temperature is decent), Transport museum in Luzern, Kindercity and maybe the sea world at Konstanz.

Anyone know if there are any special offers for this week on family outings?

Re: My son finally coming to visit

Don't worry about the cold, Alpamare is mostly indoors, with slides going briefly outside - he won't be cold.

Not sure about the skiing, I would say leave it until he is much older.

However tobogganing with you braking would be a great idea.

Ask at the SBB Reisezentrum. They have many offers, usually the train ride is free. http://ext.sbb.ch/search/DaysOut.aspx

Hey brotha, we took Alexander to Sealife in Konstanz last week. Not that special for the money especially when you add in train fare.

A colleague writes about the things that he and his son get up to on the weekends at http://weekendinswitzerland.blogspot.com/, which might be a useful source of inspiration.

Re: My son finally coming to visit

Unfortunately, Alexander has been sick since last Sunday and is still running a fever. We had to cancel his birthday party and now are having it next Thursday(Jack is welcome to join, but mostly 3-4 year olds and mostly German speakers) . I am not sure if I can get 2 days off next week as my boss is out of town as well.

Sealife was just OK and very short. It only lasts about 45 minutes so you have a lot of travel for a short experience. The sharks are only about a meter long, so not so uber exciting. I would give it a miss.

Re: My son finally coming to visit

For Sealife, try to go a weekday morning and book tickets online - they're cheaper and avoids standing in line.
Awesome place for breakfast or lunch in Konstanz is Aran.
Have fun with your son!
