1 Day Pass Valid for Jungfrau?

I am planning to take a trip from Basel to Interlaken and from Interlaken go up Jungfraujoch. If i buy a 1 day travel pass will that be valid for the railway from Interlaken Ost to Jungfrau as well? If it is it seems like a hell of a bargain bc one way to Jungfrau is 88chf with a halffare card if i am reading the SBB info correctly. Has anyone done this as a one day trip? Suggestions welcome!

Re: 1 Day Pass Valid for Jungfrau?

Holders of a Junior Card/GA/Seniors:
discounted 1 or 2-day ski pass available for purchase at the station of departure

source

http://railaway.rail.ch/snow-n-rail/...au-ski-region/

Swiss Pass 100% to Wengen, Murren, Gimmelwald, Lauterbrunnen and Gimmelwald - above Wengen and Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg 50% - Kl Sch-Jungfrau 25%

Also this link is handy

Was discussed here:

Re: 1 Day Pass Valid for Jungfrau?

Thanks for the info. I did already this link: http://railaway.rail.ch/snow-n-rail/...au-ski-region/
...But it doesn't specify if the 1 day travel pass (added to the 1/2 tax card) is valid for the train or cog railway up to Jungfrau. So my question is: Is there an additional fee to go to the top of Jungfrau?
Maybe i am just missing this in the info provided?

Also, is it worth it to go from Basel to Interlakn and then up Jungfrau and back to Basel in one day or would it be betetr to do an over nigth trip? Is it worth it to go up jungfrau just for the views with no plans to ski?

The views up on Jungfrau is really dependent on weather. We went up late summer - sunny below and we couldnt see more than 3 ft in front of us up there Not to mention the mountains in the distance. I felt cheated.

It can definitely be done in a day, if you start out early. We started around 8am and was there by lunch time with lots of time left for exploring.

Re: 1 Day Pass Valid for Jungfrau?

You could also go to the Schilthorn, (Next to Jungfrau) which is in my opinion far better due to less people and no tunnels, and cheaper.
Your SBB ticket is valid on the to Steckelberg (2 trains and 1 bus).

The full price of the 4 cable cars (Luftseilbahn) from Steckelberg to Schilthorn is Fr 94.80 and half fare card is accepted all the way.
Children cards accepted too.

At the top is a revolving restaurant Piz Gloria. Early morning on Swiss TV are views from Webcams and Schilthorn is there. http://www.swisspanorama.com/html/schilthorncam1.html

The day card in addition to your half fare card will only help you to take a journey upto Interlaken. There is a separate private operator which operaters the Interlaken--Jungfraujoch line. The link here shows all the destinations covered with half-fare card & addon cards from SBB http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/uebersichts...albtax-abo.pdf

Your best bet will be to check at Interlaken tourism office/website if they have some current offers/discounts for the Jungfrau trip.

Well it can be done from Basel in a day trip but you need to start early. I will recommend a overnight stay at Interlaken as you can also cover other places viz. Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, etc. If you have no plans of skiing, you can do the trip on a nice summer day wherein good views are almost guranteed.
