For this 5th edition, 30 hot-air balloons are going to color the sky of Geneva, from the Sports center of Vessy on Friday, 8, and from the main parks of the City of Geneva, on Saturday, 9 and Sunday morning, April 10th, 2011.

Organized by Genève Tourisme & Congrès, this demonstration highly appreciated by the elite of the European pilots will welcome crews from 9 countries, among which several national champions, of Europe, the world, as well as very spectacular special forms.

Considering the current legislation, there will be regrettably no possibility of buying places for flights from this opportunity.
On the other hand, the Parc Bertrand mainly, and the parcs des Bastions, Mon Repos, Eaux-Vives and de la Grange, will allow the public to approach balloons during the phases of preparation and takeoff.

5th international Montgolfiades of Geneva from 8 till 10 April 2011, will welcome 30 fantastic hot-air balloons
and pilots coming from 9 different countries to make us travel in the time.

A stand of information of the Geneva Tourism and Congress will be Place of Molard, on Friday, April 8th from 12 am till 7 pm and
Saturday, April 9th from 9 am till 5:30 pm to direct you and inform you.

On the stand. A competition of drawing for the children, the teenagers and the young adults, and a big game competition
wait for you on the theme of Montgolfiades.
In a festive atmosphere, come to ask your questions to the pilots, to discover the nacelle in exhibition and to gain numerous prizes.

The flights of hot-air balloons are not open to the public but it is possible to approach balloons during the phases of
preparation and during the takeoff for the Sports center of Vessy on Friday, 8, and in parks Bertrand, Bastions, Mon Repos,
Eaux-Vives and De la Grand on Saturday and Sundays mornings.

Finally, and not to miss, the takeoff of the balloon GENEVA in front of the Cathedral Saint-Peter on Saturday 9 at about 2:30 pm.

What an amazing immigration story. The Parmigiani family arrived in my native village (Fleurier) with nothing in the 50s from Italy - unable to speak any French. Now the Parmigiani watch brand is one of the most famous in CH- and they are the Sponsors of such a great event. Have fun - and what fabulous weather! Was by the Lake in Lausanne today, but didn't see any of the Balloons.

due to weather conditions balloons take-offs where differed or canceled. So I finally missed the shoots I wanted to do in the parks and at
the cathedral.

But finally I had a great day in town, walking between the lake, the parks and the town.

I took some pictures from my village the day after (sunday) as some balloons came over it and even landed in the field around.

The best thing is I had the opportunity to talk with a woman of the Tourism Office, which was following one of he balloons.
