Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

Is anyone in the Basel area interested in photography and might like to go out and take some photos in the region?

I'm mostly interested in industrial and rural decay, and there are some great spots for this around Basel, particularly in France.

To give you an idea of the type of photos I mean, take a look at my Flickr page.

I would enjoy a photography excursion - especially hunting for rural decay.

Could be fun! I'm not quite up to your level but would welcome the chance to learn. Let me know when you'll go.

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

This is fantastic!

Some of the best spots are found just wandering around the little roads, particularly (again) in France! I might actually get the courage to stop at a few more places with another person or two with me!

Are you both available on weekends only, or other days as well? I am normally available Friday, Saturday, Sunday all day.

Shell, I'd be interested as well, but will be away for a couple of weeks. Please keep me informed about your plans.

This is something I'd like to make a regular kind of thing, a sort of exploration for new and interesting decay to shoot.

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

I enjoyed viewing your decay pics Shell, but why limit it to just that? If there were enough people interested, then why not do (semi) regular photo excursions with differing themes?

Landscapes, cityscapes, Swiss traditional fests etc are all fodder for my cameras. The possibilities are numerous.

Of course I'd be interested in going along as well.

Good points - for me, I find I just really enjoy digging out those strange and decayed things to take photos of.

Since you had this idea maybe you and I can work together to come up with something? I will PM you....

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

There are a couple of Flickr groups that meet regularly and also have photo excursions:

http://www.flickr.com/groups/swiss/
http://www.flickr.com/groups/zueriflickrdrinks/

Both have a high proportion of expats, so English is usually the main language.

Yes, but they're generally surrounded around Zurich.

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

How about if we start with something in Basel, and share the pics here with the forum? Maybe then we can expand it to a regular area thing, or a move it to different locations.

Shell, my schedule is quite flexible. I travel about 50% for work, but when I'm in town, I can usually take any days, except Mondays to play!

Let me know what you think!

From memory, we've been to Bern, Basel & Lausanne a couple of times each, Aareschlucht (Berner Oberland), Luzern and St. Gallen.

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

I'm quite flexible and am fine on weekends and some weekdays - although I probably cannot go this week. If we could make these excursions on a regular basis, then those who are in town and are interested can go. I think that would be nice.

I probably won't be able to join a Flickr community because I haven't yet crossed that digital divide and prefer to use a film camera.

Re: Photography around Basel (Industrial and rural decay)

Hi!

Sounds like a really fun thing to do! - I think I have to wait until my camera arrives though...it's in storage with all my stuff at the moment. So if this turns in to a regular thing - I'd certainly like to join.

I'm not on flickr - but here's my website:

http://www.peterkisphotography.com/

I live in the area, so I'd be interested as well - just kinda busy right now photography-wise - will be shooting my brother's wedding in a couple of weeks so I'm doing some preparatory work.

It's really heartening to see so many interested photographers on this forum.

Apart from being my job, it's also my passion and I'm definitely up for some photo fun.

I'll PM Shell. the originator of the thread and we'll try and work something out..

PS. Nice pics Peter.
