Morning all...

We are looking for a few days break at a family friendly place (like a center-parcs) where we can take our 2 yr old and enjoy a stress-free few days to recharge the batteries after a manic start to the year.

Does anyone have anywhere to recommend? We are thinking somewhere quiet with a pool or other activities. It has to be less than a 3 hour drive from Basel - we had heard of somewhere near Strasbourg but I can't find it on the internet.

I'd like to know too. My child is going bezerk staying in doors in this crappy weather. We take her to Oki Doki and Laguna but a nice day trip should be fun for her too.

We went to Oki Doki last week - what a mental place, it was packed with screaming kids - you had to be on your toes or you were getting knocked off your feet!!

Day trip or long weekend, how about heading south to Leukerbad?

They have the public baths there with the kiddie oriented pools.

It is 3 hours and about 20 minutes by train/bus from Basel SBB,

OK thanks Leukerbad sounds good! We found a center-parc in Alsace but they won't let you book for Thursday to Sunday, you have to either go for the whole week or Friday to Monday - whats that all about??!

Anyone ever been to: swiss holiday park morschach? Sounds perfect for what we want but there are mixed reviews on trip advisor.....

We visited friends who were staying there and spent the day in the pool complex. Frankly Liestal public swimming bath is more fun (and very much cheaper!) than the pool complex there. A very mediocre selection of slides (actually I think slide is more accurate) and an ok, but very small, pool area suitable for our little one (1 1/2 when we visited). Our friends said accommodation wise it was ok but nothing special and expensive for what it was. There was a lovely looking outdoor playpark, but as it was pouring with rain we never got to use it.

So not brilliant, but not awful either.

Have been to Leukerbad with 2 little ones and really enjoyed it. Public pool was very busy but room enough for everyone. And great and easy access to high up in the mountains, with "scary" cable car and chairlift rides in abundance, guaranteed to please a 2 year old. Really enjoyable.

Thanks thats kind of what I feared... a few glossy pictures of kids smiling isn't always the reality in my experience.

Leukerbad sounds more of a swiss adventure, we'll check out hotels there..

This isn't suited for a weekend get away, but there are some really nice Thermal Baths about 45 minutes from Basel near Freiburg.

I have only been to the first one, but it is good for kids because there are all sort of water jets and noodles that are fun to play with. I've seen younger kids there with swimmies on too. And this is a great time of the year for the thermal baths because the water is so warm!

Have you tried Aquaparc at Bouveret for a day out. I think they still have a McD inside the park for the kids. http://www.aquaparc.ch/en/attractions-glisse
