Neuchatel Premier Mars celebrations

Hope all having the day off in Neuchatel are enjoying it. This day is to celebrate the Revolution of 1848 - when Neuchatel finally set free from Prussian rule from Berlin- and became the last Canton to join Switzerland.
How did you spend this lovely sunny day (well it is up here in the mountains)?

Very grey and gloomy all day down here at lake level... a very faint hint of blue sky between 2 and 3 this afternoon, but that was all. Sounds like I should have got up higher !

I spent it by going to a different canton!

Sorry Stephen - I know that you lot 'down there' think that being by the Lake is the bee's knees, but up here us peasants spend most of the winter in bright, sunny, blue skies.

Being up there among the cows certainly has its advantages

Yes, I fit in very well! Come and visit some time - fancy some cross country skiing, or indeed downhill? Great hiking in the Summer too.

We went to Westside took the little one swimming and husband took me shopping! (I know we don't live in Neuchatel, but husband works there)

We went to Westside
I bet half the population of Neuchâtel did that too

I went over to see a friend who lives near Fribourg. It was very odd driving over the cantonal border just beyond Marin and going suddenly from a public holiday (empty streets, not a soul in sight, no traffic) to a normal working day, then back again a couple of hours later.

We went over the top to Pontarlier. It was lovely and sunny and the trees looked very pretty with the snow on them.

It was so pretty was it not? You should have popped in for a cuppa, as you passed our house!

Re: Neuchatel Premier Mars celebrations

That explains why Yverdon was so busy this afternoon - no parks for the car in Jumbo, traffic jams eveywhere !!!!

Re: Neuchatel Premier Mars celebrations

So sad that people by the Lake went shopping when they could have driven up to the mountains and have a lovely, sunny, winterwonderland walk, sledging, skiing, day.
