Re: SBB Promotional offers

A few of us went to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise at the weekend.

Absolutely stunning and well worth the 115Fr (with halbtax) from Basel: train to Zermatt, cable car and gondola to Klein Matterhorn at 3883 metres, entry fee to the Glacier "disney experience" cave thingy. Take it slow if you're doing all this in one day as the climb to 3883 metres is likely to leave you with mild altitude sickness (headaches, nausea) if you don't break the trip up. If you've never been to Zermatt before (I hadn't; I'd never been on any mountain range before like that) then I also recommend a snowshoe hike:

Is a very easy one and the views ... out of this world. Well, not literally, otherwise the trip would have been more expensive ...

I'm tempted by the Lucerne Transport Museum.

Re: SBB Promotional offers

I went up to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise a few years ago and agree that it was well worth the trip. I did this in the early autumn so there was not the snow about for snowshoe walks, except right at the top.

I can also recommend the Lucerne Transport Museum and Technorama. They are both worth visiting and each require a full day.

The Glacier Garden is also good, but not an all day attraction. An hour or two is adequate. If you visit there, make sure to see the Dying Lion statue next door. Just down the road from there is the Bourbaki Panorama. You can get a combined ticket (Lion Pass) with the Glacier Garden.

Lucerne has a glacier??
The owner of a house in Lucerne was digging his garden to create a wine cellar in 1872 when he uncovered the rock formations. The garden is the remnants of this glacier from over 10,000 years ago.

A competition rather than a promotion as such. Win a 500fr travel pass
