B&B, guest rooms, inns around Lake Constance (preferably near Bregenz, Lindau)

Seeking recommendations for pleasant yet affordable places to stay for a night towards the eastern side of Lake Constance/Bodensee, i.e. in or near Bregenz, Lindau. Anybody willing to share their hot tips/secret?

We stayed here in Lindau a couple of years ago, not that cheap but great location and service and I would not hesitate recommending it. I think Bregenz will probably be more reasonable as more competition.

I came across Hotel Helvetia in my search but it's beyond my budget. Bregenz doesn't necessarily appear to be more affordable. From what I gathered, one really has to look further into the Vorarlberg region and in the mountains to find cheaper hotels/pensions. Private guest rooms are another story though. They can be as cheap as 20€/person. So far all the ones I was interested in were fully booked unfortunately, but I don't despair.

Rehberg Hotel, Lindau - have not stayed there but know of friends who did and rated it OK.

Alternatively, camping!

You can take a scenic plane ride in a light aircraft from Lindau airfield, which is a real experience. There are also zeppelin flights and helicopter flights from Friedrichshafen airport.

Thank you for your suggestion, Mr Jrspet, but that hotel is still a tad pricey, considering its rates for 2 persons in a double-room. As for camping, the prospect of paying good money to mingle with bevies of blue-collar families with their boisterous kids and pets is not very enchanting, even for one night.
