I thought that was Swissair in 2002, did Swiss Air ever exist? No it didn't. However as we have all things "Swiss" and for you I will call it Swiss airlines in future so nobody gets confused with Swiss railways etc.

And I think they trade as Swiss International Airlines

Great response Ittigen. I am sooo tired of reading people's mindless rhetoric on this forum. You posted a legitmate source of good information for the benefit of others. Please J.L-P, unless you have something intelligent to add to a post, please keep your ignorant comments and 'political correctness' to yourself.

Re: Swiss Air, offers from UK to Switzerland

You can of course change the country at the top to CH and find offers from CH to various places. We used to take advantage of these offers quite a lot. We'd book on Wed for the weekend. But I have to say, the prices were quite different 2.5/3 years ago. GVA to Barcelona was often 79F or 99F. We used to go there quite often. Not it's 189F Zurich to Barcelona! Eeks.

It is important to be up to date and helpful when referring to a company as it is called and not as it was: SwissAir aka SR. The common name now is Swiss and the full name is as written above and their IATA code is LX.

Perhaps Vertical you are unaware of the importance of the demise of SR not only in aviation but as well for Switzerland and how it affected several other airlines notably Crossair (LX) and Sabena.

As if it matters, I have Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University am very informed on the history of aviation and its importance on commerce, culture, and humanity. Your smart ass comments on Swiss/Swiss Intl. Air are irrelevent and add nothing to the original post. Every person who has read this thread, or links, knows exactly which airline the original poster was referring. If you wish to debate the importance of the correct name of the airline please start a new thread identifying your topic.
