Bernina Express with gemeinde Tageskarte?

Hi people!

I have two "gemeinde Tageskarte" for sunday, and I would like to surprise my partner with this nice travel in the alps, if it's possible. I've heard that is soooooooo beautiful.

Could we both use these tickets to make this journay? Do we have to make a reservation or something before???

Most of the information is in german and I cannot understand a sh!t.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I know, Tageskarte is valid for Bernina Express, but you will have to pay an additional seat registration fee (see the web page below). I hope it works out - from what I've heard, the scenery is spectacular!

Re: Bernina Express with gemeinde Tageskarte?

Bernina express has panorama carriages, where reservation is obligatory, but there is always a couple of normal ones without reservation. The windows in the latter are a little bit smaller at the upper side. Not all trains accept to take bicycles on, but otherwise, it's just a normal train line.
There is a guy at Skt Moritz and Pontresina station to show you the right car. They are used to tourists, don't worry.
But they usually start talking in italian... you have to tell them which language you want to make them switch. They make it very clear that Poschiavo is italian speaking country.
Last detail: If you are out there after a hike and want to ride back with the train from a small station, you have to push the botton "halt on request" and if you don'T have such a thingie to push on, then just wave clearly at the train driver when the train approaches.

Thank you very much both!!!

Can I make this reservation online? I cannot find how to do it with the link.

I am in Zurich. Where do you recommend me to connect with the Bernina trains? In what station?

I have to organize what trains we have to take!

Thank you!

On the right hand side of the page which comes up with your link it says Ticket Shop. Doesn't this work?

Just look the connections on www.sbb.ch it's all there. I don't reserve seats, I would however just go to a station near you and just tell them the train you want.

Normal connection, every second hour:
Coming from Basel. train in Zürich,
then Zürich - Chur
over to Rhätische Bahn Chur - Samedan (direction is Skt Moritz)
Samedan change train to Pontresina, go to track 1
In Pontresina, the train to Tirano is waiting onthe opposite track.

It takes more time to go to Skt Moritz and then wait there for the train to Tirano, but you may enjoy a little walk by the lake.

It's perfectly organized, just follow the flow... the line is touristy, announcements are made in English too. Enjoy also the ones in Romansh :-)
