Erm I thought I'd mentioned that (3 messages above yours)

But I suppose it's important to stress that point (as we are reaching the 31 October)
So sorry. I started my writing and then got a phone call ...1.5 hours later I finally hit the "post" button, which came in after yours.

Re: Chocolate factory in Zurich?

Has anyone been to the Lindt factory? Is it reopened? Worth the trip from Zurich center?

The Lindt factories are not and will not be open to visitors.

The Lindt shop in Kilchberg is open and well worth a visit.

Re: Chocolate factory in Zurich?

Here is another option. They have limited dates for their tours: morning only.

Camille Bloch

About an hour and a half by train from Zurich.

Or, heading east towards St Gallen for 1 hour, you could visit Schoggi Land in Flawil.

Great topic.

Has anyone been to Schoggi Land, is it any good and does the tour include tasting?

Visitors are coming this week, and I need to think of some activities.

There is Lugano's Alpenrose Chocolate Museum, but seems you can only see the history of chocolate making and there is no sampling of choclates.
I went to the Alpenrose Chocolate Museum/Factory last year.
It has the history of chocolate making (old machines, photos etc) and you can see the actual production of chocolate through glass screens. The majority is automated machinary though.

No free samples though!

There is a shop on site (discounted but not mega savings) but Alpenrose is lower end of chocolate (supply Co-op).

It is well worth coming to Ticino; even just for the mediteranean climate and different culture as well as the beauty of the place.
Just amazes me how there is a 10+ Centigrade difference from one side of the Gotthard Tunnel to the other and the North being in total cloud and Ticino is sunny.

In Wallisellen (10 minutes from Zurich Aurport) near to the Glatt centre there is a chocolate factory which you can visit, but unfortunately I don't know any more details.
It's chocolat Halba in Wallisellen
