Hi,

Me, the OH and our two dogs want to go on a hiking mini break. What I am thinking is hiking all day to a little cabin (only basic needed bed, and shower facilites) and then hiking back the next day (hopefully a nice round trip) Does such cabin thing exist? If so, where and will they let us stay with our furry ones?

Not sure that what you want exists. Only a few of the Swiss Alpine Club cabins have showers, and while the FAQ (Questions fréquentes or Häufige Fragen) claims that the individual sections decide animal access, I have never seen a dog in any of the huts I have been to.

No idea about a cabin. But how about

Hotel de Chasseron, above Yverdon/St Croix. You can hike from Les Rasses or Les Cluds and then have a nice meal there- watch the sunset with a good bottle and hike back the next day via another route.

Travel to Biel / Bienne. Take the train to Twann, Ligerz or Cressier (towards Neuchatel), hike up to Chasseral which is at 1609 meters.
The Twann Schlucht is a very beautiful gorge.

Stay in chalet style hotel, http://www.chasseral-hotel.ch/ at Chasseral mountain top. They do not take credit cards!

Next day hike down the other side to St Imier. Take train back to Biel.

Total hike is only 30 Km, but rather hilly! There is a sporadic Post Bus on the south side.
