Salty Lake ????

I was chatting to a random Swiss woman in a bar last night, and can just about remember her talking about a salty lake in Switzerland. She talked about the how great it is to swim there.

I am not sure if she was taking the piss?

Can anyone shed some light?

cheers
SC

p.s. I did a google search which just had links to flights from Salt Lake City to Geneva. I also did a forum seach which came up with nothing.

Re: Salty Lake ????

I am sure Lake Geneva Wisconsin and Lake Geneva Florida have been ruled out.

Could it refer to the Bodensee / Constance ?

Unlikely, Lake Constance is fresh water: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Constance

Re: Salty Lake ????

For years, the salt concentration increases in the Swabian Sea. Researchers are the causes to the bottom left - with amazing results ...

Interesting, but since we're lobbing facts at each other now, I would contend that the now "high" level of salt content in Lake Constance hardly constitutes "salt water" - the article you linked mentions a figure of 6.1 milligrams per litre whereas this article http://www.sterimar.com/en/earth-ocean-planet.php states that the average sea water salinity ranges in the region of 30 to 40 grams per litre - several factors higher. Nevertheless, it's interesting to learn that Lake Constance isn't as fresh as you'd expect.
Cheers
