| | Suggestions for honeymoon in France and Italy
After almost two years of marriage we are planning to go for a honeymoon.
We are thinking driving from Zurich to south France and Italy (Tuscany, Amalfi...)
Do you have any suggestions?
Something that only locals know?
I read all posts about these places but can' t find exactly what I'm looking for.

Just off the top of my head, the area around Lucca in Tuscany is a great place to get away. There are some quiet, secluded hilltop villages which just ooze charm.

Nice old town, 20 min to San Remo, One train every hour to Nice or Monte Carlo (I think 10 euros each or less). Its inexpensive with a nice Italian beach front. 4x as friendly as Nice and none of the riff-raff. But Id say no more than 3 or 4 nights there.

My husband and I finally took our honeymoon after 2 years of marriage as well just 2 weeks ago. We drove to Genova, took the Ferry Terrannia (sp) to Olbia Sardinia, Italy. It was a perfect honeymoon getaway. The island is amazing, water crystal clear, the Hotel Villa Margherita has a suite with a private outdoor hot tub, right across the street from the Sea. Perfect for walks on the beaches, snorkeling, chartering a boat, diving or whatever you fancy. Its a small village, inexpensive, quiet and quaint. Just a suggestion. www.sardinia.net | The following 2 users would like to thank sflorida_sweetie2 for this useful post: | |

Tuscany without the tourists (and that is rare!)- fabulous views, near a great spa (Fonteverde Spa) and near enough all the best Tuscan towns, Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, and Orvieto (Umbria)- apartments or suites. pm for any other information- we go there every year, just got back.

It had a garden with a pool, view, beautiful garden with orange trees. There was a pretty walk past the tennis courts etc, to a private calanque beach with a shower in the rocks. The water was crystal clear, saw Poulpe and lots of fish. It was very private, although some walkers manage to get to it by walking over the cliffs, we watched them dive off the cliffs

Corsica is great, but expensive. By far the best beaches, mountains, and pigs in the middle of one-lane roads.
Comogli is very nice, and then head from there down through 5-Terre.
In France (other than Corsica), I've always liked Antibes.
Tuscany great for motorcycling.
All are great for eating/drinking.
