Mürren

If you ever get the chance to go to Mürren, I would most definitely advise paying for a ticket to the Schilthorn. One of my professors went all the way to Mürren, but did not want to pay I think it's CHF 75. This makes me sad now that I have witnessed the amazing landscape while eating in the rotating Piz Gloria restaurant.

Re: Mürren

It is both cheaper and healthier to walk (or run, see Inferno half marathon) to the Schilthorn. Views are just as good

It's not always open to the public ...... sometimes it's privately hired out to Telly Savalas to entertain some lady friends.

Re: Mürren

Can anyone who has done it tell me how long it takes to walk from Mürren or Birg to the Schilthorn?

Re: Mürren

I walk down from the Schilthorn to Murren this time last year and it took about 3.5 hours. I would think, but I'm no expert, the walk up would take at least 1 hour longer.

I've always said that Murren is my favorite place in the world. There is just something about that little village.

I walked up it this year from Murren via Speilbodenalp and Rotstockhutte and it took me about 6 hours including breaks.
Up to Rotstockhutte goes pretty fast, above quite a bit slower.
The route up via Birg is quicker but the views (IMO) are much better this way and Rotstockhutte a great place to stop for lunch.
