Can anyone please guide me to the most feasible and cheapest way for a tourist to travel by bus/tram in basel?

does a daypass work? does the daypass apply to both bus/tram?
and does it mean they can go to and from anyplace till the day is over i.e. however many stops and places they would visit?

I was to recommend a daypass. Yes you can drive as many times by Tram and Bus as you wish. But there are different passes, one is more expensive and applies to the whole region of North Western Switzerland (including trains) and the other one, If I am not mistaken costs about CHF 8.- ist just for Basel and very immediate environment.

The mentioned 8.50 day ticket takes you across basel and the nearby towns. The 16 CHF ticket is for the larger region.
