What can I do with children in Zürich? (age:8-9)

Hello everybody

I am going to Trampolino (Dietikon) tomorrow with two children, but it opens at 13.00, so I am looking for a programm for the morning! The weather will be changeable so some indoor program would be nice! Could you offer something?

The zoo is perfect for changeable weather, being indoors and outdoors at the same time.

The zoological museum is pretty good. It will be crowded, but it's free, indoors and you can sit down while your kids run wild looking at the no longer wild animals.

Or the Kunsthaus (art gallery) is free on Wednesdays. We often go and just stay for a little while, buy a postcard and then go to a cafe.

When it's raining really hard, I get our eldest two dressed up in wellies and waterproofs and we go for a walk in the rain, splashing in puddles and generally having a grand time. They love it.

We get the bus home which always seems to be a treat for kids

Check out this blog for ideas:

It seems to be written by a mum who's been here for quite some time & is a great source of info for not just Zurich, but other areas too

What about IKEA. Takes more than a hour simply to get around the place, loads of beds and sofas to jump on, no sit on. Cupboards you can play hiding seek in, a whole kids area to leave the kids in while you shop; inexpensive coffee and cakes...

Just a wild idea...

Or go into the forest. It's wonderful in the rain. If your'e near the city centre, go to Römerhof and then get the Dolderbahn up to the forest near the ice skating rink. There's a nice walk through the trees to a restaurant where you can get a hot chocolate. If you look on map.search.ch you'll see the restaurant (it's called Degenried). And then you can walk back down to Klusplatz. We used to do it all the time with our then four-year old so should be no problem with older kids.
