Hi all, I would really appreciate some suggestions here. My mum, dad and sister are visiting from uk tomorrow until monday. They have been pretty unlucky with the weather on past visits so this time I thought a visit mid july would be fool proof. looks like i was wrong!
I would really appreciate some tips for entertaining them in and around Zurich this weekend considering the weather looks to be unreliable. I love living in Zurich but when the weather is bad I am at a loss as to what to do with guests. They have seen quite a lot of Zurich so any suggestions for a small day trip would also be greatly appreciated.

This could be an idea...

You can start in the morning , take the ship at Burkliplatz to Country Hotel Halbinsel Au ..The ride is about 1 and half hours.Its a nice restaurant with an amazing view...you can have an extended lunch...and may be back to Zurich around 4/5..

I would consider a day trip down south to the Bellinzona/Lugano area.

Weather looks great for Friday, and it may be dry on Saturday. Yes, it might seem a bit short notice, but if you do the day trip i guarantee you won't be disappointed.

I guarantee you will have heavy traffic between Basel and Italy for at least the next 6 weekends, until the German schools go back after their summer holidays. Also avoid Zurich <-> Bern autobahn on Friday evenings.

You should consider day trips driving east to Graubunden, or west to the Bernese Alps, Seeland lakes, or the Jura areas. Pontresina, Klosters, Solothurn, Bern, Neuchâtel are all worth visiting. Luzern is also excellent if you can avoid the Basel <-> Gotthard autobahn.
