| | Easyjet says Basel is a Swiss alpine destination
Found on the Yahoo news site | Quote: | | | | Extra flights will link Belfast with Amsterdam and Geneva this autumn, easyJet has said.
There will be six more flights each week from Belfast International Airport to the Dutch capital and two additional services to the Swiss Alpine destination.
EasyJet commercial manager Ali Gayward said the Amsterdam route had been a great success.
"The city has always been a big attraction for business people and holidaymakers going on short breaks or longer stays, and there has also been significant business and tourism traffic from the Netherlands into Northern Ireland," she said.
"Our Geneva service has always been a firm favourite with Northern Ireland skiers and snowboarders. Flight times are great, so people can travel in the morning and be skiing down the slopes in the afternoon."
The extra flights to Amsterdam begin from September 2 and to Geneva from December 11.
Earlier this week, easyJet announced that it is to introduce flights from Belfast to Southend in Essex from April 2 next year. | | | | | |

Or Sean Connery driving a DB5 up the Valais side of the Furka in the movie Goldfinger, while the GPS display (or whatever it was) in the car showed him to be somewhere between Geneva and Lausanne (or that all the Swiss in the movie spoke bad high-German, despite supposedly being near Geneva).

Well, Ryanair claim that Frankfurt "Hahn" is close to Frankfurt, well I suppose it is, it's only around 100km away.

Years ago, even before Dan Air flew to Bern Belp with BAE 146s, when goats still outnumbered the literate Oberländer population, a British charter airline actually flew ski charters to Interlaken-Bönigen airfield with a Handley-Page Herald I seem to recall, which really is in the heart of the Alps. Back then the Swiss Air Force flew Venoms and Hunters from the airfield, which at the time was considered to be secret, military airfields never appeared on any maps until the 1990s.

It isn't far but imagine landing in a totally different county than you were expecting.

You should have seen the faces of the poor guys when they heard that is was 100km away.

A few years ago, we (co-worker and I) took a RyanAir flight from Milamo to Stockholm.
Of course, it was actually from Bergamo to Nyjoping , but since we actually WANTED to go to Nykjoping, the extra 1/2 hour to Bergamo was worth saving the two hours from Stockholm to Nykjoping!
Tom
P.S. Most uncomfortable plane I've even flown!

I years ago, when all flights from Jersey to the London area were full, and my booking on a JER-LON-flight was regarded as irrelevant, flew on Dan-Air to Bournemouth and the travelled by train from Bournemouth into London. Less than two hours (rather 1 and 15). Imagine that a trip on public transport in Zurich in the 1960ies from Wollishofen to the airport took you more than an hour ..... so what

Does the London to Vienna Easy Jet flight still actually land in Slovakia, not Austria?
