Re: perseid meteor shower

Fingers crossed we have a clearer night tonight as the 12th is supposed to be the height of the shower. Last year my son and i saw quite a few on one of the clear nights around 23.30 - 00.30.

1. read the thread completely, Perseid meteorite showers are in August.

2. read the rules: posting bad comments will not count towards your reputation.
The poster might actually be refering to the Orionid meteor showers, which actually peak between the 21st and 22nd of October.

(perhaps...)

Any place that is relatively free from light pollution. Hausen am Albis is relatively close and easy to reach by public transport.

Re: perseid meteor shower

although the skies don't seem to be very cooperative, it is high time to view delta aquarids meteors, to prepare for the perseids in a couple of weeks on 12/13 August.

If you have a car, I recently noticed the light pollution near Oberwil-Lieli was pretty low.

Already been seeing quite a few 'shooting stars' over the last couple of weeks from our East-facing balcony. Dunno if it's early perseids or just random.

Re: perseid meteor shower

Also remember, the the Delta Aquariid meteor shower is still rambling along steadily. You’ll see mostly Perseids, but also some Delta Aquariids in the mix. There’s an explanation of how to tell the difference toward the bottom of this article.

i guess, they are the delta aquariids.

Re: perseid meteor shower

Any suggestions on some good spots to view around Zurich?

Thoughts on: Better tonight or Wed night in CH? Possible to view before reasonable bed time?

Thanks for thoughts.

We saw a couple of pretty spectacular fireballs with the whole fiery tail over the last few days .. some lasting over 5 seconds .. Plus loads of smaller ones.

between 10pm - 12 midnight we've seen most.. After that it was probably just drunken imagination or embers from the fire pit.

++ The amount of other stuff (satellites?) we've seen is pretty amazing too.. I have various apps like SkyView/FlightRadar etc which identify things Hubble or ISS ..Or aircraft. But we see loads of similar moving objects which the apps just don't identify.
