Excursion Dilemma - Help!

Hey all,

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I've got friends visiting from London in October and they would like to do a one day excursion to a mountain somewhere .

I went on the Mt. Pilatus Golden Round trip last year with other visitors and it was good fun. It combined a bus trip to Luzern, gondola, cable car, cog wheel train and boat trip all in for 150 francs per person.

I'd like to do it again but just realized that it comes to 600 francs for 4 people! I don't have a car available at the moment so driving is out of the question.

Surely there's a better way to spend 600 francs on an excursion or a less expensive way to do it for a party of 4?

Many thanks all.

Rigi is cheaper, and there is a Railaway special offer from SBB (Zurich - Arth-Goldau - Rigi - Vitznau - Boat to Lucerne - Zurich). Also, if you have a Halbtax, there's an offer from the Post Office for a one-day-GA for CHF 66 for two people, one of whom needs to have a Halbtax.
