| Since this weekend is supposed to be rainy i wonder if anyone has any suggestions for a train journey that will still be lovely? Surely not everything in this beautiful country is spoiled by rain?!? I would be travelling from Basel so would have to be reasonably close, under 3 hours each way, preferably closer to 2.
What do you do on rainy weekends? | |

Basel Bad - Freiburg - Titsee-Neustadt - Seebrugg and back.
That is admittedly in Germany. So alternatively, it'll be Basel - Lucerne - Brunigpass - Interlaken - Berne - Basel.
Most other scenic Swiss railways are too far south for your 3hr limit, or take into the fog if the weather is bad (Rigi, Pilatus).
