| | Seeking Xmas flight deals to US
If anyone happens to come across some decent flight deals from Switzerland to the US, I imagine that quite a few people from the forum could benefit. Others have generally posted them anyways in the past, but maybe someone will think of this post when they come across something
Thanks!

I'm looking too!! I keep hoping that no one is buying because of the price and that they'll have to drop the prices!! Hasn't happened yet then I'm afraid if I wait too long the price will go up.

It's really unfortunate because within the past month, both Air Canada and Lufthansa had great offers but we didn't snatch them up in time. I'll shoot my left foot if the price doesn't get lower again...
Because I'm curious, and so that this thread has some substance, where are you trying to get to? I'm trying to land in either Seattle or Vancouver.

for those who don't know - beware of "dynamic pricing" mechanisms used on ticket websites. you may often notice that a flight costs more the next day you look at it on the website. clear your browser cookies (or check from another computer) and you may find that the price goes back down.

I'm trying to get to Philly but via Edinburgh - I looked at Basel to Philly then return Philly to Edinburgh (for the Hogmanay fun) but it is cheaper (so far) to go to Edinburgh the night before then get a return from edinburgh to Philly. Months ago it was about £1290, then it went to over £1420, now it is about £1370 (for 2). I want £1200 back!!!

Christmas is not a good time for flight bargains. Lufthansas offers usually exclude the period between 15 Dec and 1 Jan.
You're best bet is to get a fair regular offer while still available. The closer it is to Christmas, the more difficult it will be.

If you don't have to stay until New Year's, try to fly back on the 30th or 31st of December. We got a good deal from GVA to JFK for 550 CHF from the 14th to the 30th with Swiss.
I used Skyscanner.ch to check the prices, they scan many other websties in one go. (there are many more websites like this, though) I believe Air Canada had some cheap proces too, via Montreal from Geneva.

My experiences is fly 5 days before Christmas and fly back on 30st or 31st ... no business trips and not much of vacation travelers and decent airfares (last year $450 roundtrip ORD-ZRH-ORD with Swiss)

Thanks for the tips. We'd be flying from Dec 16 to Jan 10, although the dates are somewhat flexible.
