Community Theater?

Hello,

I recently moved to Zurich for my Masters studies, and I'd really like to get involved in the local community.
Back in Canada (where I'm from) I was always involved in amateur/community theater, since it is such a nice way to find a family away from your family.
Does this exist in Zurich? I've found numerous theater courses (for a price), but nowhere where you can simply audition for a volunteer acting position, with the ultimate goal of performing (not even among student organizations!). I desperately want to find a theater environment here but don't have money to pay for courses, and anyway would rather rehearse for an actual performance.

Any advice would be appreciated!

In Basel we have www.baselpanto.org, http://www.semi-circle.ch/ and http://pages.unibas.ch/gaybeggars/ - and that's just the English speaking ones I know about. I'd guess that there must be something similar in Zürich!

There's normally a membership fee, but it's not heavy, and is necessary for insurance.
