Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

I use them in most of the flights. I have been an elite member for quite some years (believe me, nothing to be proud of as it reflects tons of time away from the family, but it is what it is). Due to the business I work for, tend to be KLM's or Air France's. None of them are as fancy as those from Malaysia or Singapore Airlines, but decent enough with free magazines, internet and drinks ;-)

Soft Petal . Hope your sitting in your lounge thinking you have victorry over on life because you stole some water and booze from the lounge. I suspect you take the soup, shampoo, toilet role and ear cleaners from the room thinking you have got one up. You have won. That's as good as it gets.
I am so unhappy I am home with my loved.

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

Used to practically live there many years ago, when I bounced all over the place for my job. Business class longes remind me very very much of fine hotels on a business trip: clean, pleasing (sometimes), cold and empty when you're on your own and 8 time zones away.

I used to think (and still do) that I'd rather nap across 3 seats in a busy terminal and sleep in a no star hotel with my love waiting for me than the 1st class lounge, and a 5 star hotel with a view and and a welcome bouquet and be alone.

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

It depends on the package. My own one includes free unlimited parking at the airport, check-in via business class (regardless of the class flying), free coffee, breakfast, snacks and internet. All for euros 200 a year.

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

I've never been in one in my life. I'm simply not that class of traveller.

I don't understand the bitter attitude of EarME on this thread, though. It seems like a pretty good service for those who have to travel long distances then work when they get to the other end, and if they can afford it - or their companies are willing to pay for it - then why not?

Next we'll be trolling the threads of people looking for cleaners or babysitters or car washers...

(Oh, and the groan is for whining about being groaned.)

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

It's not that you can afford it, it just that when you travel very often (for your job) you get upgraded, get the lounge card and collect miles.

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

3 to 4 times a week. I have both a *Alliance card and a PriorityPass card so i always have access to a lounge regardless of class of travel and airline. When you spend 10-15 hours a week at airports, these lounges are a haven.

PP lounges are actually often better than the airline lounges. The one in T3 at LHR is fantastic!

I wouldn't know.

When I'm in a public place, I tend to mind my own bleedin' business.

Anyway, what has any of this got to do with the OP's question?

I used to travel quite a lot, but not enough with the right airlines to get a gold card. I used to pay $400 a year for a Priority Pass, and it was worth every penny. I didn't feel superior to anyone. I liked the fact that I could set off in good time that I didn't need to stress and have somewhere relaxing to wait. It was also good to know that when transferring that I wouldn't be sat for hours on a rickety metal bench like I once did at CDG, knackered after an overnight flight.

It would be nice if frequent flier schemes actually rewarded frequent fliers and not just ones who go to Southeast Asia/Australasia twice a year. I'm a very frequent flier, but on a 90 minute route I haven't even racked up the points for flight socks this year.

Still, the normal pleb waiting area at Basel is luxury itself compared to being trapped in one of "London" Luton's glass containment cubes of hell for two hours. If Ryanair made airport lounges...

Cynical bitter rubbish.

These rooms are an oasis for seasoned travellers. We do not think we are important, just wiser, privileged and savvy.

Not many people buy their own Business Class ticket.

But having a Credit Card that costs CHF240 per year, giving travel benefits (Lounge visits , Travel Insurance , Travel Assistance) to a value of CHF800 is clearly a common sense decision, and not one designed to delay your flight.
How have you got a Priority Pass with a Gold Bonviva? Both the CS website and intranet say it is a feature of the Platinum package only...

Now, your experience of airline lounges is what exactly ?
