Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

In ZRH, I hardly use the lounge as public transport is excellent. I can time my arrival at the airport perfectly so that I then just breeze through the airport.

If I want a limousine transfer to the plane, then I need to go to the lounge though...

My usual rule is that airlines' lounges are only good at their homebase.

Most priority pass lounges are better than the airline lounges in Europe. But in Asia it is the opposite. Priority Pass lounges are not as good, and full of economy class passengers who use the lounge because they get free priority pass with their credit cards.

Re: How frequently do you use airline lounges?

I used to spend a lot of time commuting to Switzerland and I quickly racked up enough flights with KLM to get lounge access. As I was flying via AMS I did 4 flights a week and Flying Blue uses number of flights or miles to promote up the status levels.

When I had lounge access, I used it every return flight. I usually had a couple of hours to kill and would use the time in the lounge to have a quick snack and catch up on my email. That meant when I arrived home Friday evening I was done with work for the weekend and could have a break before starting it all over again at 5am on Monday morning.

I don't have lounge access anymore as now I'm here, I'm travelling less. When I do travel now, I fly direct and try not to spend ages in airports. However, there are times when I would have used the lounge, and times when I wouldn't have bothered. I am considering a pay-as-you-go PriorityPass though so I have the flexibility to make the choice.
