Hi all
for those of you who havent been to zurich zoo yet i just wanted to share the experience and encourage people to go if its the sort of thing you enjoy.
Lots of animals, insects, creepycrawlies etc to see, many eating places and play areas and learning opportunities for children.
My brother, wife and 3 children (all under 9) have recently visited and we all loved it and for those of you who are footie fans FIFA HQ is 5 minutes down the road.

We will probably go by car as we are 5 (relatives come to visit us!) and we don't live in Zurich. So the cost of train+tram+zoo is a bit too much.
But thanks for the link anyway !
Enjoy the day, it's a very good zoo, been a few times and enjoyed it every time. The tropical house is huge and it's great to see animals just climbing and flying around you :-)
Weather should be okay, fog supposed to clear after 0700, but thats what the weather office tells me, so who knows :-)
Chris

If you get the chance, visit Basel Zoo sometime. We've visited both and loved both for different reasons. At Basel you seem to be more up close and personal with the animals. We were there this week and were lucky enough to be at the enclosures when the meerkats came outside doing what meerkats do (love them!), and then later when the snow leopard family were out.
There is no glass and they came right up to the fence so there was only about six feet between you and them, absolutely breathtaking.
There is some construction going on at the moment on an outdoor enclosure for the big apes, which should be ready next year, which will be amazing for them, and us!

We did ! And we loved it too ! I've never seen a lioness from so close, she was about 50 cm from me (thanks the extra solid glass!) and it was amazing ! Plus I found 120CHF on the floor Great zoo !

"Great place to see some really strange creatures staring at you through the glass. They seem almost lifelike the way they mimic us, not too sure about the way treat their small ones though".
Said the gorilla in an exclusive interview with the Tages Anzeiger.

Just got back after a lovely few hours here, saw the wolves, wild pigs, wild cats, had our lunch at the cafe sitting outside in the sun!
We should have allowed ourselves more time as we weren't able to see everything, so we're planning another trip soon and making a full day of it.
Thanks so much for telling us about the Wildnis park, it really is worth a visit, there was lots for children to see and do and for us adults too.

I took my grand children there a couple of weeks ago, they loved it! We even ended up buying a family pass which is certainly worth it, I think it cost about CHF 260.00 for 2 adults, 2 kids (under 6) for 2 years!
