| | Ideas for winter activities for children. Questions and suggestions
I found this thread Family Friendly places to visit in Switzerland - great TODO list for us, thank you! But unfortunately I didn't find anything specific to winter time there.
Any recommendations for the place where we can go NOW (25-30.12) for a couple of days with fun activities for a 2 year old kid? Ideally with ICE rink - don't know if she will manage/like it but there are skates of her size already
And we stopped skiing, so pistes are not needed.

I've removed this from the original Thread with summer activities.
I expect there are quite a few folk who'd like to find sledging runs and easy slopes suitable for youngsters. Let's have your ideas ready for the school holidays please.
I've also made this into a temporary Sticky so that all ideas come to the same Thread (or I can find it when I want to merge Threads!) I'll let it slip out of sight again later... when the snow melts.

We went up Titlis from Engelberg a few years ago, at the top there was a fun park place. Best bit was the large donut rubber rings that you sat on and slid down and around a very enjoyable purpose built track in the snow. My 2 year old sat on my knee in relative safety (it doesnt get too fast). Also up there was a nice restaurant and an ice cave. We spent best part of a day up there, say 10.30 to 3pm.

Thanks for suggestions so far! The only problem we will place I think will be hotels availability - last minute travel in ski area might be a hard task even we are not skiing. Therefore suggestions for places without any pistes around are especially welcome!
Edited: some hotels are still free in Titlis area e.g., so we will try any posibility

As you are located in Zürich, why don't you try to find out if she likes skating at Dolder ice rink first? They have fun "ice-bears" to support the kid (altho I don't know if they are not too big for the 2yo!)

There is a nice "family" ski spot where you can hire a sled and walk in the forest as well, not far from Zurich/Basel - it's called Klewen Alp (45 mins from Basel, just after Luzern). If you take the Gondala up from the highest car park (you drive up to a village, about 15 mins from the main highway), there is a "kinderHutte Dienst" (Child minding service ) - where your little one can be looked after for an hour or 2 as well (CHF 10-- per hour i think), so you can have fun with the older one if things get too much for the little one...
Hope this helps! There is usually snow up there most of winter. Check it out.

Just wondering is there a good place for a cross-country skiing not far from Wollerau?

La Cure up past St-Cergue is a great spot for snow shoeing, sledding or hikes

My suggestion is Hoch Ybrig. Beautiful ski and snowboard area, with modern ski lifts and both gentle and steep slopes

There's an indoor ice rink in Schywz, just off the motorway. And a short drive away is the siberian husky lodge in Muotathal (think big fluffy dogs with sleds). The Victorinox knife museum has some cute "touch to make sounds and start video's" stuff for kids. Nearby Zug has a big indoor swimming pool with kids play areas and pools. Sattel has the enclosed & rotating gondalas up to the Mostelberg and there's a good toboggan area up the top that is little kid safe. That whole district has plenty of hotels that don't come with the high end price tags. Unfortunately I don't know anywhere with bouncy castles or those huge pits full of balls (and wish they would let grown ups play there too)

We love going to the outdoor skating rink in Oerlikon
If it gets too cold the indoor pool is right across the street |
