French mushing championships Les Fourgs

Next week-end both Saturday and Sunday- great day out.
Come and watch the dogs at work. (Les Fourgs is not far from Vallorbe and Pontarlier- when you drive down from Metabief/Jougne towards Pontarlier, turn right at the end of the woods, or left when coming from Pontarlier, about 2km after the Chateau at the top- well signposted).

Re: French mushing championships Les Fourgs

May see if I can talk OH into going there as I've always wanted to see it. Most likely to be Sunday though as I suspect (not so) little one might be a bit tired on Saturday.

Do you have a link to a website or something I could show him?

I actually asked about dog-sledding a couple of weeks ago and someone posted this for me.

Sunday why not!

Just Google les Fourgs and there are several links and vids. Mushers coming from all over the world. One of my students is hosting the 2 favourites.

I hope not. It's the mummy costume that might prove to be a bit of a challenge.

Re: French mushing championships Les Fourgs

Did anybody go. It was very cold but really interesting. Sadly the next leg in Gryon/Villars saw an Italian win the silver medal, after appalling treatment of his totally exhausted dogs. Plenty of vids around and it is hard viewing. I've written to Gryon/Villars Tourist office and looking for the official body to write to as well. He should clearly be stripped of his medal and prevented from mushing for a very long time. B******d
