I couldn't find any to eat! The place was very quiet ( it was on a Sunday.)

BUt, things to do are to take the funicular up to the waterfall, then walk back down - lovely walk.

Next, either take a bus, or walk the 2km to the Aare river gorge. ( direction of Innerkirchen) A walkway has been built in the gorge, at times directly above the water - very ipressive.

Also, (bus from Innerkirchen will get you to the where you can take a cable car, then walk across the triftbrucke - a spectacular suspended walking bridge between two valleys.

There is also the SHerlock Holmes museum, in the baseent of the ENglish church.

Re: Trip to Meiringen

According to the Homepage (Aareschlucht Meiringen) the restaurant is open but the gorge itself is closed until the end of March.

Re: Trip to Meiringen

Aaaaah, I have just checked a guide book that says the funicular only runs between May-October, too.

The museum is listed at being open Wed-Sun between 1630 and 1800hrs this time of year. I guess the marketing of mass tourism has not reached the area yet. :-)
