Their Viking buffet is super excellent - fresh seafood!

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

I was thinking about taking the train from Basel to Moscow as a variation to the usual flight I take.....just as an experience. I think its the same one that splits and goes to Copenhagen too.

I can find it on the SBB website and the route number is NZ 50472 - but I'd like to know who operates the train. If its a Swiss or German train, I'm tempted - but if its a Russian train, not so much!

Any idea whose train it is?

The train is called "D 50472" and you can find some information using google.

In German, I found this interesting bit:
http://www.belarusforum.de/de/forum/...sk-moskau.html

And this:
http://www.drehscheibe-foren.de/fore...06716,page=all

It takes about 40h:
http://www.citynightline-katalog.de/2012/de/
(page 35)

That's quite a long train journey - but of course, you can then avoid all the airport-stress and the "only so much liquids" bullshit ;-)

Apparently, the train is operated by Russian railways:

General consensus on the forums seems to be that the train is nice and clean.

Thanks. I got most of the information (including the train number) from Google already. I assume NZ must mean Nacht Zug.

How do you know it is operated by Russian Railways? A similar page to the one you sent is on SBB and DB too

Somebody said so in one of the forums.
I'm not really a rail-buff and I'm not sure I understand 100% of the slang in the forums. ;-)

The "train" is really a collection of railway cars that get stuck together over the course of the journey.
But the personnel seems to be Russian.

However, people recommended these guys:
http://www.gleisnost.de

Apparently, their quotes are quite good - and I'm sure they speak English.
Just give them a call.
I'm really only relaying 2nd-hand information that is sometimes a year old ;-)
