You could also just go into your local train station or the one you want to travel from and ask...

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

Go to Basel Bad Bf station ( DE / CH ). Then take the train using DB´s Europa-Sweden-Spezial at www.bahn.ie

You can break your journey in Copenhagen city or Kastrup airport for up to 48 hours before proceeding to Stockholm, if you wish to.

Prices are 25% less if your have a Bahncard 25, HalbTax or Railplus Card.

Europa-Spezial-Dänemark

Or a flight from Basel Airport to CPH for only CHF129 rtn on Swiss

Thank you JRSPET for that excellent information, that must have taken some time to find the answers, and don't you live in Singapore?

There is also this, http://www.mitfahrgelegenheit.ch/

You'll definitely be for one night and more, on the train

I love trains- but it will cost you x10 or more the cost of a flight.

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

that's a long trip on the train. You're going to get 10 minutes in Copenhagen.

if money is such an issue, I have the solution. Save your money, stay home. Do you know how much a beer is in Copenhagen?

how much is one hour of your life worth?

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

I have done the train-trip from Basel (actually Zurich, but the actual City NightLine starts in Basel) to CPH, and back.
That was in 2008.

With the night train, it takes some 14 or 16 hours and you won't get sleep for most of those. It's enough sleep so you are not totally in "zombie"-mode, if you know what I mean.
But my main problem is perhaps that I can't sleep in air-conditioned rooms.
Oh, and the "breakfast" you get: better skip it and go to a bakery in CPH...

On the upside, the people you can meet on the train are almost guaranteed to have interesting stories to tell.
I paid for a "dual-cabin" and the other guy was a retired Air-force pilot who lived in Sweden and California. Lot's of interesting travel-stories.

Obviously, unless you don't need a bed, it's not cheap. Plane-tickets would have been way cheaper and faster in my case - but I had my reasons for taking the train and I wanted to take the night-train, once ;-)

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

I just used the Internet randomly (www.rail.ch) and found you can go from 144 with no bed to somewhere like 288 to enjoy your 18 hours journey in a double economy cabin - i.e. bed.

18 hours each way. If you're lucky, one change. If you're not, 3.

Your best bet might be the CNL night train from Basel. Check the DB website (they have low bucket advance fares on certain days, which SBB won't show you) and buy the Geneva to Basel leg separately.

I doubt it will be cheaper than Easyjet though.

Re: I need to take a train fro Geneva to Copenhagen

In Swedish but if you manage to sign up ( free ) as a member of their Viking Club, you get free or heavily discounted day and longer cruises from Stockholm, hence why I posted the Europa-Spezial-Sweden link.

URL

Viking Line SE

I booked mine, return cruise with brekkie for less than CHF10

Some cruises are targetted for families, shoppers as well as for parties.
