Ascension Day Help

Being the first time I have lived and worked in a religious dominated area, I have no idea what to expect with this year's Ascension Day weekend. Is it super busy to travel by car? Are there countries to avoid? Our original plan was to go to Disneyland Paris, but I have read horror stories about the crowds so we are scrapping that. Flying is out of the question dur to the massive cost for this weekend. Any suggestions would be great. I am so not used to places that shut down and send the masses on holiday all at the same time. This is new territory for us.

Re: Ascension Day Help

How about Europapark? Way better than Disney apparently (though I've never been to the latter) and easier to get to.

We actually finish midday Wednesday (company policy) and off the rest of the week. Heading for a jolly to Walensee with a bunch of friends.

These are the times I wish hubby didn't work for a US company. (please don't tell me you do!)

ps- I love Walensee, just around the corner from us! Although up to now I have only admired it from afar...hope to soon explore it more!

True, but with the exception of Christmas and Thanksgiving, most things operate normally on those days so the people in the business/school/finance industries that are off get spread out better because you can go shopping or to the beach or to theme parks etc. Here almost everything shuts down and the masses are packed into the very few options that are open (like Disneyland Paris)
