les diablerets in summer

My wife and I are thinking of heading to les Diablerets this weekend from Lausanne. If anyone has been there in the summer, could you let me know what sort of easy access there is to hiking trails, restaurants, shops, etc from the train station? Also, will any of the trams/cable cars etc be open this weekend? Any details from your experience with this area would be greatly appreciated.
