Re: Nock Circus

Yes, it should be though unfortunately I haven't seen the show for some years. Nock and Knie are Switzerland's biggest circuses and well worth a visit. Have a look at their website www.nock.ch for more info on the show.

Circus Knie will be in Zug from the 5th to 7th November, right after they finish their stint here in Fribourg. Wesbite: www.knie.ch.

Re: Nock Circus

Saw them earlier this year in Basel, and some of their acts blew me away.

Although there's a bit of the traditional padding I've seen dozens of times before, overall they're a top-notch circus with some really talented performers.

Re: Nock Circus

You should be aware that most circuses include animals in their shows. Thus, you might like to reflect upon this before you unwittingly give an example to your children that circuses are one example where wild animals are kept in captivity and obliged to "perform" for human? beings.

Swiss Animal Protection report on Circus Nock:

Quote:

Zirkus Nock is primarily human performers, with few (if any - several years since I saw them) animals .... well worth the ticket price if acrobatics, juggling, tight-rope walking and clowning about is what you want.

Re: Nock Circus

I was just there Wednesday with my 5 and 7 years old. They loved it! Especially the women dancers ...

The whole show was good, very professionally run, and the high wire act at the end was especially good!

English translation: "Also the circuses Nock and Harlequin appeared pleasant from the animal protection viewpoint. Horses, camels, zebras and donkeys enjoy exercise and pasture at almost all locations. The contact with the animals in the rings of these circuses is respectful and correct."

Much work has been done in recent years to improve the already high standards of animal welfare here in Switzerland and in the UK. Most of these improvements follow the guidelines laid out by Dr. Marthe Kiley-Worthington in her report commissioned by the RSPCA. This report was published independently after the RSPCA decided not to do so.

And some animal activists do not always tell/show the truth. I remember looking at a copy of BBC Wildlife magazine some years ago which had a photo of a hippo at Circus Knie in his travel box and implying that this was how he was kept when not performing. I had been to the show that year and know he also had an outdoor area and a water pool he could enjoy whenever he wanted to.
