Lively ski places- Gstaad, Zermatt, Davos, Arosa?

Hi all,

Me an my girlfriend are planning to go to a lively ski place and spend a night there. we will probably not ski but want to feel the ski atomsphere and we would like a place where there is enough people and activities to do (restaurants, shops, etc).

I have shortlisted the following options: Gstaad, Zermatt, Arosa and Davos, all these from my friends. But they are either too far (we arre travelling from Zurich) are too expensive.

Would anybody recommend any of the above or know a place that could be closer to Zurich and not so expensive for staying overnight?

THanks a lot for your replies.

Lenzerheide?

Take a look at this site, I have navigate to the page where you can see resorts 1hour, 1.5 hour, 2hours from Zurich.

Each resort link, when clicked, will give you a break down of resort, including apres ski rating.

Same neck of the woods, but the other side of Chur - you could try Flims also.

When we were in Lenzerheide 2 years ago they put on a ski show one night. Basically they have a run that comes down to the High St of the village and from the footpath of the High St you could watch it (under lights). It was AWESOME. They were doing flips and tricks and synchronized skiing. If you can arrange to be there when this is going on I would consider it a very nice bonus.

Dear all,

Thanks to all for your messages.

At the end I have booked one night in Gstaad, together with a Snow and Rail offer from SBB.

The journey will take three hours, not too much difference with others such as Davos or Arosa, and as it is said that Gstaad is 'the place'...

Just FYI, I will stay in the Posthotel Roesli (280 CHF) and the train+pass (280 CHF). Not much money left for restaurants...

Gstaad is a nice place. I met my wife 1972 at the Gstaad Palace. We did a lot of skiing then and had Raclette at a cozy Restaurant in Saanen,
