Weekend ticket for DB Bahn

I have a question about DB Bahn's weekend ticket:
http://www.bahn.com/i/view/USA/en/pr...d_ticket.shtml

The page says the ticket is good for "Up to 5 people travel together for free in one day" and "Advantage for (grand-)parents (1 or 2 adults):
your own (grand-)children up to the age of 14 travel for free!"

My question is, do the children under age 14 count as the 5 people traveling together? For example, suppose my parents and my kids (age 5 & 6) want to travel with me and my wife, are we a group of 6 (2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 children) or we are a group of 4 (children don't count)?

I'm not sure whether I should buy two weekend ticket or one weekend ticket for a group like this?

Thanks!

Re: Weekend ticket for DB Bahn

You'll need two tickets. But I must admit this all hinges on their use of the word "or". Which may be a translation error.

Quote:
Individual travellers, groups of up to five people travelling together, or parents/grandparents (max. 2 adults) travelling with any number of one adult's children/grandchildren under 15 years old.

Re: Weekend ticket for DB Bahn

From the German page, I would say the kids do count, in the following way:

Quote:
http://www.bahn.de/p/view/angebot/re...e_ticket.shtml then click on 'Die Konditionen'

When the children travel on a ticket, you can only have up to two adults on the same ticket. You'll need to put the grandparents on a separate ticket.

It's a bit strange, because if you have just one child you end up paying more than if they were an adult! The tickets are still great value though - I've used them loads.

Yea, a third vote for two tickets based on the German text
