Re: Recommended Travel Agency for Japan

What kind of trip do you want to do, and what do you expect form the travel agency? Individual circuit? Group circuit? In what language? Only a package with plane tickets, hotels, transportation in the country (train ir rental car) and possibly a few excursion? Once you know what you want, it will be easier to find it.

We just came back from 3 weeks in Japan with the Troll. We booked everything ourselves except the Japan Rail passes which we got from a travel agency at Bellevue (the one over Mobile Zone). Found everything on the Internet. Plane tickets were booked directly on the airline's website.

Cannot help you with a travel agency, but can highly recommend the destination. We had a great time! Feel free to pm me if you have any queries.

Re: Recommended Travel Agency for Japan

Hi All, Happy New Year!! Hope your holidays were amazing.

I am resurrecting an old thread in case anyone on the Forum these days has some advice to offer.

I would like to find a travel agency that could help me plan a self-guided trip to Japan. As in, I would like help selecting accommodations, making recommendations for where to go so that I can do the things I want to do, but without being in a group. Let's just take it on faith that I am not currently able to do all the arrangements myself, and have decided to see if I can find a business that will help me.

I have found Inside Japan, they seem to have really good reviews, but most were posted several years ago. I also see Japan Tours by adgentes in Zürich, but know nothing about them.

In case it matters, I am hoping to have a gentle time mostly away from big cities, discovering Japanese history and current culture while enjoying nature.

Any thoughts would be very welcome! Thanks.

Re: Recommended Travel Agency for Japan

When i went to Japan, i thought about an agency as well but in the end i did it all myself. It was quite wasy because Japan is generally safe no matter where you go. Thats what i felt at least. Since this is not an option though, try these guys.

The only reason i know them, is because you can buy somerhing called the Japan Rail Pass, with which you can travel for free in some trains. Its only available to buy outside of Japan, and thats where i got it from. I have no idea if they offer what you want but its a start

If you have any questions let me know. I had a really nice trip there

MNG are apparently the best in the business for the airline side of things, so i hear, you even get serenaded aboard with orchestra.

Nissan provide excellent security

I've a contact in Lebanon who can probably advise better than i can, ....if you'd care to drop me a private mail

I would suggest you pick 3 and send them an email with your requirements. Based on their answers to your likely follow up questions, you will quickly see who you are most comfortable with and go with them.

I have been to Japan multiple times and never used an agency: Hotel bookings are dead simple, just use booking.com as you would do anywhere else. The only time I did not use booking platforms was for very specific Ryokan which you can only book directly… yes, thats a bit adventurous but has always worked.

Besides the hotel do you need a train pass. There are dozens, they try to sell you the Japan wide one, but that makes nearly never sense as you will hardly visit the entire country. There are regional passes, say Tohoku pass, or Kansai pass that are often the better deal at the fraction of the price… but dont get advertised… so you need to do your research.

Only area I had issues with is renting a car. Read it here> https://www.englishforum.ch/transpor...wont-work.html

Re: Recommended Travel Agency for Japan

I do all the booking by my self, hotels at booking.com, for the shinkansen pass
i turn to japan-ferien.ch

I recommend the sanyo san in pass, so you can travel in the south of japan and use even the nozomi train.
