Experience of Geneva
I have recently visited Geneva during the week-end with some friends. I had quite low expectations as Geneva did not sound like a very fun and interesting place to me, but I changed my mind during the visit.
We found out about these "Greeters", who are basically locals offering free walking visits to tourists and bring them off-the-beaten tracks. Our greeter was a young man studying architecture, he had a great passion for his city and showed us things we would not have seen by ourselves. We really enjoyed it because it is a great way to see the city from the inside and discover things besides the touristy spots (the water fountain, the old town, etc). We also had nice discussions about the everyday life, our personal lives, and compared living in Zürich with Geneva. At the end of the stroll, we even went out for a drink together. The best thing is that it is very genuine: these Greeters don't event ask for tips or any money.
I recommend it if you want to visit the Romandie with a local :-) I am not sure if it exists in other cities of Switzerland but it would be great to have it here.
