| | Re: The Storks Are Back From The South | Quote: | | | | | There's a couple of storks in Pfäffikon ZH next to the lake, they stayed there the whole winter and are mating since almost 3 weeks now... | | | | | Also spent a good 30 minutes together with my grey heron pal a couple of days ago (I like to think that its the same each year), watching and listening to the thousands of frogs in a wildlife pond just above the center of Zurich yesterday.
See something beautiful on this walk there almost daily. Be it deer, different bird species, flora or what else changes with the seasons.
Would upload, but it’s quite complicated on EF.

Two weeks ago, on a field next to the A3 between Schwyz and Glarus: a field full of them. beautiful to see. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a picture.

They are confused they don't know if , giving birth or getting hatched .I was brought by a stork my mom told me |

And they're returning again. Went down to IENA this morning and several nests have a stork on them; a few have a pair. | The following 5 users would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post: | |

I'd love to come and see them when babies are on the nest.

As well as IENA there's also the Stork centre at Altreu, which is the biggest colony in Switzerland. https://www.infowiti.ch/de/witi/ |

We saw a couple in a field on the way to Murten on Thursday.
IENA is the equestrian centre in Avenches.

It's that time of year again. Many of the nests down at IENA have one or two storks on them so we'll head over to Altreu next weekend to see how many have arrived there. |

Wow. Arriving home from the Alps late afternoon yesterday, we were welcomed by the first Red Kite of the year circling over our meadow.
Of course, for quite some time, many red kites live in large groups by Lac Leman and do not migrate to Africa.

Storks at Altreu have done very well this year it seems. 59 pairs and 110 young; that's the most ever recorded in all the years we've been going over there. |
