Jucker Farm

Nice place to wander around and get something to eat, farm shop, goats and rabbits to pet, stuff to climb on. Not so good if it's tipping it down with rain, though.

The Zoo. Ours would have gone once a week.

Who do you want to entertain? Yourself, or the toddler?

From my recollection, if you don't entertain the toddler you can forget about entertaining yourself, unless you're a masochist who likes screaming and tantrums.

From the OP's existing trips it looks like they like the outdoors, so also there are many more ideas on the www.myswitzerland.com site.

I don't recall mine ever having a single tantrum. Seriously.

It's all in the training.

Our second didn't, our first did - a lot. I think training is critical, but it can only take you so far from their inherent disposition.

More ideas:

Technorama is probably a bit old for a toddler, but maybe - same with the Sauriermuseum.

One young member of our family went every day for a while! Mum was on bed rest in her second pregnancy and Dad took the two year old youngster to the zoo each evening to say goodnight to the animals just before it closed. A lovely way to round off the day and the child went to bed, 'the animals are all asleep now too' in due time. Fortunately she didn't know much about nocturnal animals!

Having more than once taken our first to the HBF for the sole and express purpose of riding the escalators (he was mad for them for about 4 months). I can imagine that.

Re: Day trip with 18month old

There are loads of parks with play areas and sand pits.

Check this website - which has links to a map where you can find them all.

https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/ted/de/...elplaetze.html

When my son was that age, we'd find any park with a play area preferably with water and sand, and make sure the pram was loaded with buckets, spades, implements of destruction, snacks, drinks. Preferably a park with a cafe so Dad can get a beer, cup of tea etc.

Our regular places have been GZ Bachwiesen, Josefswiese, Hasenrain.

Other places springing to mind - Tram Museum, Wildnispark.
