Scenic and peaceful places for an old lady

My mom is looking for a scenic and peaceful places to stay for a few weeks (hotels, airbnb etc would be fine). When she was young she traveled around the world and is always curious for new things and enjoys cultural and scenic places.

However her knee is not as good as before so challenging roads or stairs is no longer an option. Also it should be easy to buy groceries for daily life. It could be anywhere in the world, but Europe is even better so we can keep in touch in same time zone.

Any advise and recommendation is welcome, thanks!

Has she considered a cruise? They do offers some advantages for elderly travelers.

I looked around this website a bit and WOW, some seriously good deals for those who can go last minute. The website is a bit annoying though.

Re: Scenic and peaceful places for an old lady

I think she would need to be near a hospital and a train station, so
I recommend in Switzerland, Interlaken. In Holland The Hague.

Does she speak Italian, French, German, English?

Bern is also very peaceful and picturesque, can she climb steps?

Lugano comes to mind. There's nice sceneries, warm climate, good food and a low cost of living. In addition, she'd be close to Italy and the airport in Milano.

No, and still don't. Youre the OPs mom, and happy to be here?

Yes, she likes cruise too. We usually book cruise from cruisedirect or expedia. As you said the price could sometimes be quite attractive.

It's just she's also looking for non-cruise trip and was talking about Hallstatt which I feel it's a bit too well-known and not very "peaceful" nowadays. I'm thinking about Dolomite and nearly region...

She only speaks English. She'd been to Interlaken a few times and would like to try something different.

Please keep ideas coming, thanks!

Hungary, Tihany.

or

Around Lago di Garda for instance...old people sitting on the benches in front of their houses and greeting everyone who is passing by...(reminds me of home) Lovely.
